Sunny Days and Blue skies in Arizona

We took a trip to Arizona in October to visit our dear friends and family.  We stayed in Tucson with my friend Janny and her family in their new house for the first leg of the trip.  Janny was my roommate for 2 years in college and we became the best of friends.  She moved to New Hampshire a while ago and then moved back to Tucson recently.  We played and laughed almost like old times....the kids put a damper on a few of our plans but it was ok. 

We went to a UA football game and left the kids with Brian's parents.  These pictures were taken with Cody's phone....

It was so fun!  We got to see the streaker (with chonies) get tackled by the cop, the fight that ensued between the two teams (which stole this prankster's glory) and we got to see Arizona win.  It was pretty exciting.

The next day we wanted to go hiking in the beautiful Catalina Mountains but it was too hot.  We went to the splash pad instead....

Eliza was a little timid at first.

After a minute or two she warmed right up.

It was incredibly bright...Coulson and I could barley keep our eyes open.

Janny took all of these awesome pictures with her fancy camera...she took some beautiful photos...I am totally dissatisfied with my point-and-shoot now...I NEED an SLR camera!

Eliza LOVED the splash pad and talks about it frequently.  We will have to find one here in So Cal.

The sun was way too much for poor little Coulson.

 

We also went to El Guero Canelo, our favorite restaurant ever!  It was delicious and I am refraining from sharing how the kids ruined it for me.

The initial motivation for our trip was a picnic some friends of ours were organizing in Phoenix.  We haven't seen these friends in a long time and thought it would be so fun to see everyone at once.  We went to the picnic Saturday afternoon and enjoyed time with friends and then spent the rest of the day with Cody's family.  We got to eat Tia Rosa's, yum, yum!  And the cousins got some serious quality time together.

  We played with Erin and her family for a day and a half and then headed home.  Eliza just loved spending time with her cousins and threw a royal fit in the car on the way home.....she screamed at Cody to turn the car around and go back to Charlotte's house for about 45 minutes.  It was lovely.   

Thankfully we were all healthy and happy most of the time and had a great time!
