Our Trip to Arizona

After 12 hours of traveling we arrived in Eagar, Arizona!  The kids did amazingly well in the car and we made pretty good time.  We arrived at my sister's house with shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops...we were going to Arizona after all.  Eagar is at about 7,000 feet in the White Mountains so it was definitely not shorts weather.  We stayed inside and built a fire in my sister's wood-burning stove and just listened to the wind howl outside.

One morning we woke up to find snow!
The wind calmed with the arrival of the snow so we went outside and played for a while.  The sun was shining so the snow was melting fast.  We built a snowman and had a great snow ball fight.
Rolling the snow into a snowman was easy because it was so warm and melty.  Perfect for building a snowman!

Here is Eliza grabbing some snow to throw at me....and below is her wind up:
...and here is her release.  It didn't quite hit me but she got the idea and loved it!
"3 baby snowmen!"

Cody met his Dad in Globe and went fishing for a day.  He caught lots of fish and saw a bear.  We had a great time with my sister and her family.  Thanks for having us Becky!

Next up...

Cornville!
The kids were not so great on our way to Cornville, unfortunately.  Eliza was over-tired and over-stimulated.  She cried and screamed for about 2 hours because a part of her toe nail broke off and started to bleed.  "It hurt, Mama!  Kiss it better, Daddy!  No want da band-aid!" over and over and over no matter how many times we kissed her toe, sang songs or tried to reason with her.  She was beyond reason.  We just turned up our audio book and let her scream.  She eventually fell asleep which was all she needed.
Cody and his dad and their fish.

We had a great time in Cornville.  Eliza loved her grandparents' attention and constantly asked, "Where's grandad?  Where's grandma?"  It was cute.

Unfortunately for everyone we all got sick Monday.  It was a nightmare.  Luckily we were in the comfort of Cody's parents' house.  We have terrible luck with illness and traveling.  We lost a day of our trip and once we recovered we went down to the valley to Cody's sister's house.

This is the only picture we have of our day in Mesa.  Eliza is watching her cousins eat ice cream and she is asking very pitifully, "I want some ice cream."  I wasn't going to let her have any because she had been throwing up.  I gave in to a scoop.  Eliza got to play with her cousins and she loved it.

I got to see my cousin and her new baby and also my friend and her new baby and then we headed for home.  On the way home Coulson threw up several times.  It. was. terrible.  I was a nervous wreck.  I almost called 911 for an emergency helicopter to come and get my poor baby.  We made it home finally, and I have never been soooooooo happy to be home.  Poor little Coulson was sick for a couple of days but has since recovered and is back to his giggly, rolly-polly self.  Thank goodness!

That sounds like a fun and eventful trip!! I'm so glad that your kiddos are feeling better. It is so sad to watch them throw up and be so sick. Glad you had a safe trip :)

Sorry the last leg of your trip wasn't fun but we were still glad to see you guys! Also nice to know my children aren't the only ones who do bad in the car quite often.
