A visit from the Grandparents

We took Grandma and Grandad to Coronado Island.  We had a delicious pizza, walked by Hotel Del and walked down the boardwalk.  It was a beautiful day and the beach was packed.

Grandad and Eliza watched some ants on the sidewalk Sunday afternoon...I think Eliza may want to be an entomologist when she grows up.  I just asked her if she likes bugs and she smiled and said, "Yeah, I like bugs."

It was so fun to have grandparents here!  Eliza just loved them to pieces!

We let a few of our zucchini stay on the vine too long...  "That's a big, fat zucchini right there."  It is so fun listening to Eliza talk these days...it always amazes me how many words she knows.  She says things I didn't even think she knew all the time like mourning dove, ringtail, and mule deer from one of her southwest desert books.  And a gem from this morning: "Oh my gosh!"  "A big, fat poop!" (she was using the potty.)  And every sentence right now ends in "right there" "over there" "right here" "right now".  She follows me around asking me a steady stream of questions using several prepositions in practically every sentence "What's that about, mama?  What's that for right there?  Whatcha ya doing right there for, mama?  Whatcha lookin' about, mama?"  It is so funny.

We left Coulson in the bedroom for a minute and he army crawled to the door and all the shoes.  He ended up closing the door and then just laid there kicking...we had to wait until he moved a bit to squeeze in and pick him up.  He has not started traditional crawling but he sure moves wherever he pleases by rolling and army crawling on his belly or back.  He is proficient at reaching for and grabbing anything interesting that is at least a foot off the ground (or within his reach--like a cereal bowl full of cereal and milk) and then laying on his back to examine it.  Chords and shoes are his favorite items, of course.
