Shoot a mile, heck darn, WHALES!!!!!

Our long time blog followers may remember last year when we posted a few times about whale watching and our disappointment in never actually seeing a whale. Well on Saturday we went whale watching for the first time this winter and after about half an hour of scanning the water with binoculars, I saw a whale spout with my own eyes. It was awesome! We got to see a few whales spout several times as they worked their way south down the coast. And I even got it on camera. In the picture above you can see a tiny little white mist in the center of the photo and then a boat racing toward it. The white mist is the whale breathing through its blow hole. If you click on the photo you can see it bigger. It looks tiny but just imagine how big the boat is and the spout is bigger than the boat even though it is farther away. That is a big gray whale!

On the way home we saw the moon rise over San Diego. The moon was huge and glowing, it was amazing.

That's a great moonrise, I think you should put it at the top!
